It's easy to dwell on the things that we want to change, both in our own lives and that of the world around us. So much, in fact, that it can sometimes feel unattainable. As we celebrate the achievements and history of African Americans as part of Black History Month this February, check out the resources below and consider just how much can change through the actions of one person, not to mention a collective effort.

Listen in as Jason Reynolds shares in an NPR interview why YOU, the teens of today, are his hope. Then check out this anthology he contributed to, which captures the moments when some of today's most influential young adult authors struggled to understand the state of the world, and how they found the hope they needed to overcome feelings of powerlessness.
Questions to think about while you listen:
- Think of a time when you decided to hope. How did it affect your everyday life?
- In what ways does your view of hope align with or differ from the author's?
- How do you think you can contribute to building a "hope nation?"
EXPLORE: Taking Creative Action
