Strange Academy: First Class

School's in session – and it's going to be spellbinding! Doctor Strange has finally established an academy of the mystic arts. Students from around with the world with an aptitude for magic are traveling to New Orleans to study under all your favorite Marvel mages. From mindful Mindless Ones to pan-dimensional games of tag, the Strange Academy is living up to its name!

Questions to think about while you read:

  • If you could study anything at school, what would it be? How would you use that knowledge?
  • Which magic user would you want as a mentor? Why?
  • What aspects of your school do you find strange or unusual?

LISTEN: Breathe Bubble

Strange or not, school can be stressful. Researchers have found that taking steps to stay focused on the present moment can help you relax. Maybe that involves getting outside or meditating with guided breathing exercises, like the ones offered for free through the Calm App—find what works for you!

Questions to think about while you listen:

  • When do you typically start feeling overwhelmed with school?
  • How might thinking about the "here and now" help you relax?
  • What type of music or setting would be good for mindfulness activities?

EXPLORE: DIY Stress Ball

A stress ball can also work wonders for creating a sense of calm! Attach a balloon to the neck of a funnel and just add a tablespoon of flour at a time, using the back of a spoon to push it down as needed, until the balloon runs out of space. Then tie a knot, and use a permanent marker to personalize it!
