Women's History Month

Every March, we are encouraged to study and reflect on the vital role of women in American history and to celebrate the contributions of historical trailblazers. It's also a great time to uplift all of the contemporary female leaders in the arts, sciences, government, business, and technology who have followed in their footsteps. Jacksonville Public Library has an AMAZING collection of books featuring stories and information written by and about people from varied backgrounds, races, ethnicities, life experiences, and viewpoints. Throughout the month, the Library will highlight books in our collection by and about amazing women and girls.

Join us in celebrating women and girls who have made (and keep making) history! From the brave women who fought for the right to vote, to artists, journalists and astronauts (and everything in between): Your Library has an amazing collection of books written by and about these phenomenal women and their contributions to US and world history. 

Women’s History Month is a great opportunity to celebrate the lives and achievements of trailblazing women and girls throughout history, in the present day and all over the world. It can also be a time to reflect on both the progress made and the battles left to fight. What “glass ceilings” are still left to shatter? Who is being represented and whose stories still need to be told? Get inspired by women from all walks of life with the diverse collections available at your libraries.
