I Am Learning to Read
Children at this stage have learned that letters connect to sounds. As their command of the alphabet grows, they will be able to “sound out” new and phonetically regular words. Additionally, they will be able to read a significant number of words on sight and comprehend more of what they read.
Tips for Caregivers
Read aloud books that are a level above what the child can read independently so they can learn more complex language, words, and concepts. Start looking for books with more text and complex sentence structures. Topics can be familiar but should go deeper.
