#Explore Nonfiction this Month

Did you know? This month is "Nonfiction November." If you normally stick to fiction, this could be a good time to branch out. If it's your favorite genre, what better way to celebrate than to pick up a few books read by Library Book Clubs this month? Some of these groups read and discuss nonfiction every month! Whether you're partial to History, True Crime, Biography or Memoirs... you have a few options!

Of course, all of our Library Book Clubs continue this month. We've got mystery, romance, comics and more! There's also still time to finish the 2024 Jax Stacks Reading Challenge! Remember: You just need to complete 12 of the 16 categories before December 31, 2024, to become a winner and claim your prize. Double check the categories, you've likely already read books that fit! And if not, you have two months to expand your reading horizons!

#Special Book Club Meeting

Join us on Wednesday, November 13, from 1-3 p.m. at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens in Riverside for a spirited discussion of Braiding Sweetgrass, by Robin Wall Kimmerer! We'll start off by taking a tour of the "Spirit in the Land" exhibit before talking about the book. Note: There is no charge to enter the Museum if you are registered for the book club. The exhibit runs November 6 - February 9.

Guiding questions:

  1. How do artists use their creative practice to celebrate their relationship with the land and address concerns in their communities?
  2. How can art and nature (experiences with the Museum) help visitors appreciate the land and develop the mutual understanding, care, and respect necessary for the survival and flourishing of all communities?
  3. What can art reveal about the relationship between cultural identity and the land?

Register for free!
