#Standing Out In The Middle
Add "supporting young artists" to your list of reasons for visiting the Main Library this April and May!
Jacksonville Public Library and Duval County Public Schools are partnering once again to bring the Best of Middle School Art Exhibit to the Gallery at Main. The show opens to the public on Saturday, April 22 and runs just three weeks (through May 13).
#Above Average
We promise: There's nothing "middling" about these fantastic works of art! This exhibit features a juried selection of original artwork from student artists in grades 6-8, representing 12 local middle schools. In addition to the pieces on display in the gallery on the first floor of the Main Library, dozens of pieces are on display digitally (on mounted screens) near the entrance to the Teen Room.
Student artists chosen for this exhibit received either a Work of Excellence, Work of Merit or Work of Honorable Mention certificate.
#Reception
Student artists and their families are invited to celebrate with us and their teachers on Saturday, May 6 at 3:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
#Art Walk
Coming downtown for Art Walk? The Main Library will be open till 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3 for the event. Art Walk brings people to downtown Jacksonville every first Wednesday of the month to celebrate the community's deep pool of creative talent!
#Last Friday at MOCA
Did you know? You can get in FREE to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville on the last Friday of every month. Just show your library card on Friday, April 28! Check out MOCA's current exhibitions here.
And since we're right next door, you can always stop by the Main Library first if you need to apply for a new library card or update your existing card!
