#Showcasing Talented Local Youth
The 2022 Northeast Florida Scholastic Art Awards Gold Key Exhibition opens Saturday, February 12. The show runs for just three weeks (through Saturday, March 5) and features award-winning artwork by middle and high students from across eight counties. You'll be absolutely floored by the hundreds of "Gold Key" (or first-place) paintings, photographs, sculptures, and other mixed-media masterpieces on display. Speaking of floors: Make sure to visit both the library's first and second floor. This impressive collection couldn't fit in just one gallery!
#Join us March 2 during Art Walk
Are you a local art lover? The Library's hours are extended (until 8:45 p.m.) the first Wednesday of every month for Art Walk. The Main Library is directly across from one of the event's three major hubs, James Weldon Johnson Park, where artists and musicians set up from 5-9 p.m. to engage and entertain the community.
#What is NEFSAA?
Established in 1923 by Scholastic Inc. founder Maurice R. Robinson, the Scholastic Awards have grown to become the nation’s highest honor and largest source of scholarships for creative teens. All students in grades 7 through 12, whether in public, private, or home schools, can apply.
Northeast Florida Scholastic Art Awards (NEFSAA) has been the regional visual art affiliate for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for the last 13 years -- offering recognition, celebration of, and college scholarship offers for visual art students throughout our area.
#The Best of Northeast Florida Student Art
The 2022 NEFSAA season collected and adjudicated just over 2,600 student submissions from 904 students in eight counties including Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns, Union, and Volusia.
#Honoring Student Artists
This year 1,420 awards were distributed to 642 student winners.
In the last five years, regional award winners have earned $30 million in college scholarship offers from Savannah College of Art & Design, Jacksonville University, and the University of North Florida.
